On October 26,
2008, the United States of America violated the Syrian
sovereignty and killed Syrian civilians. A special unit
from the American Special Forces based in Iraq, crossed into
Syria from Iraq near the Syrian town of Alsukariayh and
attacked and killed eight civilians and wounded others; four
of the dead were members of one family. These actions are in
stark violation of international law. The United States
violated the right to life of the Syrian citizens and the
sovereignty of a State member in the United Nations. The
United Nations norms call on State members to solve their
conflicts in peaceful ways and avoid violent actions.
The Damascus
Center for Theoretical and Civil Rights Studies (DCTCRS)
calls on all human rights organizations to condemn these
actions by the United States. DCTCRS asks for collective
action by signing a petition to be presented to the United
Nations Secretary, condemning the actions of the United
States of America against Syria and its citizens.
